Developers plan 'wellness hub' on neglected stretch of MLK in St. Pete

A St. Petersburg couple is looking to revitalize a long-neglected stretch of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South.

Local developer John Barkett and his wife, registered nurse Julie Barkett, have launched The Looking Glass Initiative, an effort to turn a corridor just blocks away from St. Pete’s Innovation District into a wellness hub, closing health equity gaps with access to healthy food.
