SpaceX eyes new satellite ground station in Tampa Bay area

Elon Musk’s SpaceX has plans for a new facility in Manatee County.

The commercial spaceflight company headquartered in Texas filed conceptual plans with Manatee County last week for a satellite communications facility in Myakka City. The 0.73-acre site at 3350 County Road 675 could become a fenced in, gravel compound with 40 satellite antennas and an equipment rack, according to the project overview submitted to the county.
