New York developer buys Lakewood Ranch land for built-to-rent homes

A New York real estate developer has purchased a vacant tract of Lakewood Ranch, where it plans to build a rental townhome community.

Lafayette Real Estate said Tuesday that it plans to build 66 townhouses in a community to be called Lorraine Crossings in Lakewood Ranch. The developer paid $3.4 million for 10 acres at Lorraine Road and Marquis Place in January, according to Manatee County property records.
