Charlotte developer, building a Tampa portfolio, buys suburban shopping center

A prominent shopping center in Tampa’s Carrollwood area has been sold to a Charlotte, North Carolina developer for $36 million.

Asana Partners, which has acquired several properties in Tampa in recent years, has purchased the shopping center on North Dale Mabry Highway known as Grand Plaza, anchored by restaurant chain Grillsmith. The sale closed March 24, according to a deed filed March 28. It appears to have been a cash transaction, as a mortgage for the acquisition has not been filed.
