Clearwater sports facility developer has a vision for long-dormant Pinellas landfill known as Toytown

The former Pinellas County landfill known as Toytown could be reborn as a sports complex that could generate $350 million in economic impact within five years of opening.

The Sports Facilities Companies, based in Clearwater, has pitched a sports complex for the 235-acre Toytown property that includes 20 baseball and softball diamonds, 17 multipurpose fields, 24 pickleball courts, 12 sand volleyball courts and synthetic turf throughout the complex.
