Pasco seeks private investment to transform remaining Highway 19 corridor blight

Fourteen years ago in Pasco County, a document surfaced titled, "Combating Zombie Suburban Corridors," featuring monsters on the cover. Inside, there were plans to rebrand 84 square miles on the county's west side into "The Harbors," a nature preserve and boater's paradise.

In 2025, while there are signs of progress, significant changes for West Pasco — private sector investment, smarter land use, higher-paying jobs — remain elusive despite persistent efforts to incentivize, cajole and inspire a transformation of Pasco’s eyesore, U.S. Highway 19.
