$73 million renovation on tap for downtown St. Pete senior living tower

An age-restricted apartment tower in downtown St. Petersburg is on the verge of a $73.2 million makeover.

The Pinellas Housing Finance Authority plans to help finance the transformation of the Viridian, an affordable complex for individuals aged 62 years old and up. The project — which will be renamed Skye Isle Apartments — would be restricted to households at or below 60% of the area's median income for 50 years and would still serve "the elderly population," according to county documents.
