A 105-year-old civil engineering firm in St. Petersburg plans to move its headquarters to another nearby building.

George F. Young, which has over 100 employees, will move from 299 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N to 830 Central Ave. in 2025. It leased about 13,000 square feet on the second and fifth floors of the building, which is also home to St. Pete Urology and the Social Security Administration.

The move keeps the company in downtown St. Pete but in an even more central location. Employees will also retain free parking privileges.

The landlord — Clearwater-based Xenia Management Corp. — will also pay for common area improvements and other building updates.

Wendy Giffin with Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, while Scott Clendening and Austin Karrick with Commercial Partners Realty, Inc. represented George F. Young. (Commercial Partners Realty is owned by George F. Young.)

George F. Young offers civil engineering, structural engineering, surveying and other services. It counts Saltaire as one of its many local projects, where it provided civil design for the 35-story luxury condominium in downtown St. Pete.

George F. Young has offices in seven Florida cities and expanded to Birmingham, Alabama, this year.

Partners Construction Group will serve as the general contractor of 830 Central’s renovation in St. Pete. The companies celebrated the start of construction at an event last week.

“After careful consideration, we chose a new location that would not only best serve our current and future employees while also providing convenient access to our team for both our private and governmental clients,” George F. Young President and CEO Bill Kent said in a statement. “We are very excited about our new location and to stay in downtown St. Petersburg. Being active in our community is in our genes, and we look forward to continuing this great tradition.”
