Tiger Woods' PopStroke has an opening date for Tampa-area course

An amenity-rich putting course backed by Tiger Woods will open north of Tampa next week.

PopStroke will open to the public at the Cypress Creek Town Center in Lutz on Feb. 17 with a VIP sneak peek the day before. The Jupiter-based company already has locations in Fort Myers, Sarasota, Port St. Lucie, Orlando and Houston, with more planned in Arizona.

TGR Design laid the blueprint for the two 18-hole putting courses that will comprise the Wesley Chapel-area facility. It will incorporate fairways, bunkers and roughs to resemble a traditional course.

“The shape of this property allowed us to get very creative and build one of our most unique set of courses,” Woods said in a statement. “I am thrilled to have PopStroke join the Tampa community with recreational and professional golfers and people of all ages and interests."

Guests will also have access to food and drink service, expanding on a model set by the popular Topgolf driving range. Entertainment-based businesses selling an experience that can't be replicated online are critical to the success of retail properties.

PopStroke broke ground on the course in February 2022 with Greg Bartoli, president of TGR Design, Bryon Bell, Pasco County Commissioner Mike Moore and Mark Stevens, president of Stevens Construction, all in attendance.
