Walmart Neighborhood Market to close in Pinellas Park

The Walmart Neighborhood Market in Pinellas Park will be closing after failing to meet the company’s financial expectations following a review process.

The store will close March 10.

“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our 6900 U.S. Hwy 19 N Pinellas Park location,” said Brian Little, communications director for Walmart in the Southeast. “We look forward to serving them at our other stores in the surrounding communities and on walmart.com.”

Walmart has seven Supercenters and five Neighborhood Markets in the surrounding area. The 71 associates at the store will be eligible to transfer to another location should they choose, according to Walmart. Nationwide the company has more than 5,000 stores. In Florida, there are 380 Walmarts and Sam’s Clubs.

The store was built in 2008 and is approximately 40,000 square feet, according to the property appraiser. It is about one mile away from a Walmart Supercenter at 8001 U.S. Hwy 19 N. It is down the street from the Shoppes at Park Place, anchored by Target, Marshalls, Regal Cinemas and American Signature Furniture.

The Shoppes at Park Place sold for $85 million in October to Pinellas Park-based Belleair Development Group. The company had said it intended to explore options for future plans at the site, including potentially adding a hotel and a potential multifamily residential component to the existing development.
