Another Tampa Bay area Bed Bath & Beyond will be closing

Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. has announced it will be closing 150 more stores, including one in Largo.

The store is located at 10500 Ulmerton Road, Suite 310. The plaza is also home to Staples, Regal Cinemas and Marshalls. Target, Chili’s and Olive Garden abut the plaza.

Just last week, the company said it would be closing 87 locations, further shrinking its footprint throughout the country. It joins the list of other Florida closures, including one at Brandon Town Center.

The company, founded in 1971, built its reputation on affordable home goods but struggled to remain competitive with online shopping trends.

In a Jan. 26 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said it had received a notice of default from its lender JPMorgan Chase. The filing shows Bed Bath & Beyond defaulted “on or around” Jan. 13.

“At this time, the company does not have sufficient resources to repay the amounts under the credit facilities, and this will lead the company to consider all strategic alternatives, including restructuring its debt under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code,” the company wrote in its filing.
