Bed Bath & Beyond to close near Brandon Town Center

Bed Bath & Beyond is closing its store near Brandon Town Center.

The Brandon store, an anchor of The Plaza at Brandon Town Center, is one of 87 closures across the U.S. as Reuters reports that the chain is on the verge of bankruptcy. The retailer shared on a Jan. 10 earnings call that its turnaround plan was failing.

The closure will leave behind a vacant big-box store that's just under 42,000 square feet, according to property records. It was built in 1995 and is owned by Kimco Realty, a real estate investment trust based in New York.

The Brandon Bed Bath & Beyond space isn't yet listed as available on Kimco's website. The only current vacancy in the Plaza at Brandon Town Center is a 3,000-square-foot storefront previously home to a dental clinic.

Stores in Apopka, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Coral Springs, Delray Beach, Hialeah, Jacksonville, Orlando and Royal Palm Beach will also close, according to a list released by the retailer.
