Streamsong Resort has sold to a national owner and operator of golf properties for $160 million.

The Mosaic Co., based in Tampa, owned the resort since developing it in 2012. Streamsong occupies 7,000 acres in Bowling Green, about 30 minutes south of Lakeland.

The buyer is a subsidiary of Chicago-based Kemper Sports Management LLC. The firm has managed the resort for the past two years as part of its KemperDestinations division.

Streamsong has three golf courses and a fourth in the works. Between its lakeside lodge and clubhouse, the resort has 228 guest rooms and suites. It also has 25,000 square feet of dedicated meeting space and 60,000 square feet of outdoor event space. It also offers sporting clays, bass fishing, archery, a spa and multiple dining venues.

"We have always valued our partnership with Mosaic, and it is a privilege now to be carrying on the legacy of Streamsong, a place that is so highly regarded by the golf community," Steve Skinner, KemperSports CEO, said in a statement. "Our team has and will continue to prioritize elevating our guest experience and resort offerings, which includes the development of our new fourth course, The Chain, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. We are thrilled with the opportunity to continue to invest in and grow the resort."

Mosaic, which produces phosphate and potash nutrients for the global agriculture industry, is a Fortune 500 company. The company said Friday it will use approximately a quarter of the proceeds from the sale for the long-term funding of international investment activities and that the remainder of the proceeds are available for general corporate purposes and are subject to Mosaic's usual capital allocation strategy, including potential shareholder returns.

"For 10 years, Streamsong has demonstrated Mosaic's ability to put formerly mined land to economically and environmentally productive use," Mosaic President and CEO Joc O'Rourke said in a statement. "It has always been our intention to identify the right long-term steward of Streamsong, and we have clearly done that with KemperSports."
