National builder to leave suburbs for Ybor City office space

A national construction firm will move its Tampa office from the suburbs to Ybor City.

Archer Western Construction has signed a lease for 13,504 square feet in Ybor’s Sans Souci Building at 1315 E. Seventh Ave. The building is owned by Darryl Shaw, one of Ybor’s largest landowners and a partner in the mixed-use Gas Worx district between Ybor and the Channel district.

The company’s current office is on the fringe of the Westshore business district near Tampa International Airport. It will move to Ybor in 2023.

Financial terms of the lease were not disclosed.

JLL Inc. handled all sides of the office lease. Managing director Caleb Lewis represented Archer Western; vice president Lisa Coulter, executive vice president Jim Moler and associate Pearlita Price represented Shaw.

“Archer Western’s relocation to Ybor City is the perfect example of how companies continue to seek areas that appeal to their workforce,” Lewis said in a statement. “From cafes and restaurants offering a variety of diverse dining options to numerous venues providing entertainment experiences, the prominent location allows employees to get a taste of authentic Ybor history and culture in a vibrant, walkable neighborhood.”

The Sans Souci Building was built in 1909. The name is French for “no worries” or “carefree.” Moler said Ybor is becoming increasingly popular with office tenants in the Tampa Bay area because of its “unique character” and “edgy appeal” as well as its proximity to downtown.

“The Sans Souci Building checks all those boxes and has a deep history and connection to the greater Tampa Bay community, which has made it a popular business address for firms looking for unique office space in an amenity-rich urban environment,” Moler said in a statement.
