A 13-story mixed-use project planned for St. Pete’s Edge district is moving forward after city council found it to be consistent with the Intown West Redevelopment Plan.

The council, meeting as the Community Redevelopment Agency, met on Nov. 10 and told the developers while the $26 million project was consistent with the plan, the team would need to address parking concerns. The project features a 114-room hotel with approximately 5,000 square feet of commercial space. The development team is comprised of Jonathan Daou, president of Eastman Equity, and Tampa-based Alfonso Architects and David Moore.

Phase 1 will feature the construction of a hotel at the existing green space abutting Central Avenue and 11th Street N. The developer will also demolish an existing vacant structure at 1201 Central Ave. N and to repurpose an existing 3,000-square-foot commercial building. The project will sit predominately on the green space near Intermezzo Coffee and Cocktails, and the developer intends to demolish Intermezzo and convert it into a pedestrian-only connection.

Phase 2 will include redeveloping a parking area into a garden bar and an urban garden. The required parking for the development will be off-site.
