Medical cannabis dispensary opens in Clearwater

A Massachusetts-based medical and adult-use cannabis company officially opened a new dispensary in Clearwater.

Insa Inc. — a vertically integrated, independent cannabis company — opened its first location in Tampa in October. The company opened its next two locations in Florida last week. A dispensary in Tallahassee held its grand opening on Nov. 18, and the Clearwater location, 28540 US Hwy. 19, opened on Nov. 19.

“Our team is intent on leading the cannabis industry by advancing all aspects of the patient experience using cutting-edge science and technology to develop innovative new products," Pete Gallagher, Insa Co-Founder and CEO, said in a release.

Insa announced it plans to open an additional seven dispensaries across Florida by early 2023.

The medical marijuana industry in Florida continues to rise, according to Leafly’s annual jobs report. The report showed that medical marijuana sales grew to a record $1.5 billion last year, a 22% increase from the year before.

Florida now has approximately 26,000 full-time cannabis jobs and more than 400 dispensaries. During the start of the pandemic, per-customer spending drastically increased and never dipped back to the pre-pandemic values.
