Academy Sports + Outdoors opens its first Tampa Bay store this month

Academy Sports + Outdoors (Nasdaq: ASO), a full-line sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer, is ready to open its new location in Pinellas County.

The new store at 7230 US Hwy. 19 N is the first in the Tampa Bay area and will open Nov. 18. It's located in the Shoppes at Park Place, which was recently sold for $85 million.

Customers can expect to find an assortment of athletic and casual shoes, sports and outdoor equipment and clothing from brands such as Nike, YETI, Adidas, The North Face, Under Armour, Columbia and more, according to the store’s website.

Academy forecasted it would open 80 to 100 stores within the next five years. Currently, the retailer has 266 stores operating in 17 states.
