Great Wolf Lodge breaks ground on its first Florida location

The largest family indoor water park resort in North America is finally coming to the Sunshine State.

Great Wolf Lodge held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday on its 20-acre entertainment and hospitality complex, Great Wolf Lodge South Florida, near the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples.

The location will be the brand's 21st resort in North America and will feature 500 suites, an expansive 100,000-square-foot indoor water park and 62,000 square feet of attractions inside the Great Wolf Adventure Park.

The Collier County Commission approved $15 million in incentives last June to complete the deal.

Previous lodges have brought their regions $5 billion in new net spending.

Collier is expected to receive an additional $150 million in tax revenue over the next 30 years, according to a county economic impact report.

The expected opening date is summer 2024.
