A new Asian fusion restaurant is headed to Station House in downtown St. Petersburg.

Hunger Thirst Group is planning to open the 6,000-square-foot Good Fortune on the ground floor of Station House this summer. Founder and CEO Stephen Schrutt said the restaurant will have a 12-person sushi bar, dining tables, a 14-seat bar and cocktail lounge along with a private karaoke room and an outdoor patio.

"The bar will be a beautiful centerpiece for people to meet and enjoy our outstanding cocktail menu and beverage program with a selection of Japanese whiskeys and different styles of sake, plus a selection of local and unique beers, wine and bubbles,” Schrutt said in a release.

The layout of the restaurant will allow customers to have an experience where they can sit with the sushi chefs or enjoy their food and beverages in the lounge. A karaoke room can be reserved for large groups, and the restaurant will eventually serve brunch on weekends.

"It's incredible and fun for me to see something come together that started as an idea over 10 years ago,” Schrutt said. "There are so many factors that go into creating a concept, and I am very passionate and excited. I’ve waited patiently to find the right location and I think everything has aligned to finally deliver Good Fortune to downtown St. Petersburg.”

The menu will be sushi-forward but will also feature a variety of Asian dishes and cocktails. Schrutt said the location within Station House is ideal because it is centrally located and within walking distance of many residents and downtown office workers.

“I’m enjoying revitalizing the space to bring my vision alive,” Schrutt said about the restaurant. “Since the pandemic, there hasn't been a restaurant on the ground floor [of Station House] and I look forward to us catering a lot of those events and collaborating with the Station House team for art and fashion shows, weddings, as well as other events. I see a lot of great synergy and opportunity.”

He added that he has several other ideas he hopes to launch in the next few years. Hunger Thirst Group is behind Park & Rec, Ballpark & Rec, The Avenue, No Vacancy and Dirty Laundry.
