One of the tallest residential towers in St. Petersburg west of downtown's Beach Drive has topped out.

Miami-based American Land Ventures' 334 St. Pete Residences, a 24-story residential tower with more than 14,000 square feet of retail space, will feature 220 upscale residences at 334 Second Ave. S.

Coastal Construction, which has built several projects in Water Street Tampa, including the JW Marriott, Heron and a 20-story office tower, reached its milestone with the project on Feb. 25 and placed a palm tree on the roof of 334.

"Coastal is excited and appreciative to build on behalf of American Land Ventures," Sean DeMartino, Coastal Construction's president of Central Florida, said in a release. "This is a landmark project in St. Petersburg, and we are very proud of the high quality and safe work we are doing with all of our trade partners."

The tower will front Third Street South and Second Avenue North. A seven-story parking garage will connect to the development. The project includes more than 230 miles of building wire, 42 miles of electrical conduit, 52,334 square feet of glass, 21,500 cubic yards of concrete and 2,217 tons of rebar.

334 St. Pete Residences is expected to be completed in early 2023. This is the second project by American Land Ventures in downtown St. Petersburg. The company developed Arts and Entertainment Residences in 2016, which was sold and is now known as Camden Pier District.
