New hotel moving forward on old Beachwalk Inn site on Clearwater Beach

A hotel developer appears to be moving forward with a new project on the site of the former Beachwalk Inn on Clearwater Beach.

A corporate entity linked to 3H Group, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has secured a $29.8 million construction loan from Western Alliance Bank, according to Pinellas County property records. The same entity that secured the loan owns the Beachwalk Inn site at 385 S. Gulfview Blvd., according to property records.

Plans to build a seven-story, 88-key hotel on the property were approved in 2017, according to Clearwater building records.

Representatives from 3H Group were not immediately available for comment Friday.

In 2019, a ceiling at the former Beachwalk Inn collapsed, the Clearwater Beacon reports. A demolition permit for the motel was pulled in 2019, according to property records.

3H Group was also the developer of the dual-flag SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn by Marriott Clearwater Beach that sold for $115 million in October.
