RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Indoor adventure park to take over vacant retail property in Pinellas County The company recently signed a 10-year lease 4460 66th St. N, according to Foundry Commercial and is expected to open in the second quarter of 2022. Foundry also represented the company in Tarpon Springs with the facility that opened Dec. 10.
The vacant 30,000-square-foot building is getting a massive overhaul with renovations to everything from the floors to electrical, according to Foundry. The exterior of the building has already received a new paint job, and the blue, pink and white paint is visible from the road. Jennifer Jones, senior associate broker with Foundry, said the site has been vacant for years and the limited supply of big-box retail spaces made it an ideal location for Catapult.
The property is adjacent to Harbor Freight and across the street from the former Kmart. In December, Atlanta-based Fuqua Development announced it was redeveloping the Kmart property and anchoring the plaza with At Home and Sprouts Farmers Market Inc.
“There’s a lot of competition right now with similar concepts trying to get these big-box spaces,” Jennifer Jones said. “The demographics are so strong in this area, and I think with the addition of Catapult and Sprouts, and At Home across the street, you are going to see a lot of movement and focus here.”
Catapult Adventure Parks have offerings for attendees of all ages ranging from children to adults and specialize in hosting gatherings like birthday parties and corporate events. Jones said the client wants to focus specifically on ensuring attractions for children and families wishing to host events are at the forefront of this location.
Jones said members of the Catapult team were driving through St. Petersburg on the way to a birthday party when they began discussing the lack of facilities for children in the area. That prompted them to start looking for available facilities to open a location in the community.
“We are a local family operation and so excited to provide a premier family entertainment park for Pinellas County,” said Luke Jones, owner of Catapult. “This will be Catapult’s biggest location in Florida. It really is an honor to play a small role in the growth of the 66th Street North corridor.”
The company currently has locations in the Pacific Northwest, Puerto Rico and Tarpon Springs. |
