With Epicurean Hotel location, Chill Bros. puts its artisan process on center stage

The new Chill Bros. at the Epicurean Hotel in South Tampa is as much about the ice cream shop’s artisan process as it is about serving up scoops.

The new location, which opened Dec. 3, includes a scoop shop in the space that was previously occupied by Little Midway and Chocolate Pi. It’s also home to a central kitchen for Chill Bros., which will soon have four locations: two in South Tampa, one in Ybor City and a forthcoming shop in Water Street Tampa.

The central kitchen is an ice cream production facility and also where pastry chefs will concoct Chill Bros.’ signature mix-ins — from guava pastelitos to Belgian brownies — in full view of ice cream shop patrons and pedestrians on Howard Avenue. Every sauce, infusion, baked good, mix-in and candy in Chill Bros. ice cream is made by the company.

“Opening a third scoop shop at Epicurean is very exciting, and having it house our production facility is the cherry on top,” Maximilian Chillura, owner of Chill Bros., said in a statement. “This is where all the magic happens.”

The Epicurean is a food-and-wine-themed boutique hotel that carries Marriott International Inc.’s Autograph Collection flag.
