St. Pete Beach shopping center signs golf cart rental business

St. Pete Elite Carts is heading to a shopping center in St. Pete Beach.

The golf cart rental shop has leased 6,000 square feet next to the new Starbucks at Dolphin Village, a Publix Super Markets-anchored shopping center on Gulf Boulevard.

St. Pete Elite Carts will employ roughly 10 to 12 people and is slated to open on Feb. 1, 2022.

Customers will be able to swing by, pick up a cart and head to the beach, hotels or nearby restaurants, many of which have parking dedicated specifically for golf carts.

Brooke Williams of Acre Commercial represented the landlord, Brixmor Property Group, and Michael Heald of European Equities Corp. represented the tenant in the lease transaction.

The Destin-based golf cart rental company will have 50 2021 EZGO six-passenger gas carts available to rent in St. Pete Beach and Pass-A-Grille. The Elite Carts are street legal and can be driven on all roads with a speed limit of 35 miles per hour or below. One-day reservations must be picked up in person, but the carts will be delivered if requested for two-day or more rentals.

Plans to redevelop a 41,000-square-foot southern portion of the plaza located at 4655 Gulf Blvd. are underway, said Elena Dickerson, director of marketing for Acre. The redevelopment will be known as The Landing at Dolphin Village.

The center will be updated with new signage, landscaping and a “re-skimming” of the surface. Plans for rooftop bars in the plaza have been scrapped, Dickerson said, but the other renovations should be complete by the end of the year.
