Door manufacturer Masonite (NYSE: DOOR) officially marked the opening of its new corporate headquarters building in Ybor City.

The company moved from 47,000 square feet to the new 56,000-square-foot building at 1242 E. 5th Ave., which it broke ground on in late 2018.

“We’re a 96-year-old company, and we’ve been growing here in Tampa almost 20 years. We love what’s happening in Tampa and in Ybor City, including the rich culture, history and diversity of the area. We’re happy to call this home,” said Howard Heckes, Masonite's president and CEO, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Employees have been working in the building on a full-time and flexible basis since the summer.

The building was designed by Ybor City's Alfonso Architects and developed by Alliant Partners of Tampa with Darryl Shaw. It features a custom 12-foot high, solid hardwood, cross-laminated architectural door crafted by Masonite, according to the company. More than 100 Masonite doors are in the building.

“[As Tampa Mayor] It’s exciting for me to see this growth, but it’s also exciting for me on a personal level because I have been scanning through all of your pages, looking for that new front door with a sidelite,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor at the event.

Other features of the new headquarters campus are collaboration areas, a dining patio, massage chairs, a nursing mothers' room, gender-neutral bathrooms and more.
