The List: Here are the largest office buildings in Tampa Bay

The List of the largest office buildings in Tampa Bay rarely changes from year to year. However, this year’s List saw three major additions: Thousand & One in the Water Street development, Heights Union and SkyCenter One at the airport.

Thousand & One is a 20-story office building with 350,000 square feet of space. Construction began in 2019 and completed this year. Strategic Property Partners, the developer behind Water Street, is also planning a 19-story, 500,000 square foot building at 400 Channelside Drive, but will not likely break ground for several years.

SkyCenter One is a nine-floor, 270,000-square-foot building located at Tampa International Airport. It is part of the airport’s SkyCenter development, which is slated to include a new hotel, an atrium with a roof terrace and potentially another office tower.

Heights Union, which recently sold for $144.8 million, is a 294,000-square-foot office building in the Armature Works-anchored mixed-use Heights district. Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer signed a lease in January for 105,000 square feet in Heights Union.

Midtown Tampa also marked the opening of two new office buildings this year. While neither was large enough to make the List, Midtown West, which is an eight-story, 152,000-square-foot building and The Loft at Midtown, a 70,000-square-foot boutique office building, add a combined 222,000 square feet of office space in Tampa.

While it remains to be seen how the office market will perform in a post-Covid world, where many companies are looking at more remote work or hybrid models, the opening of these office buildings marks a significant increase in Class-A office space in Tampa.
