Exclusive: JLL adds to capital markets team in Tampa

JLL Inc. is adding to its capital markets roster in Tampa, bringing on a new senior managing director to co-lead the team.

Lee Weaver, a 24-year veteran of NorthMarq, will co-lead JLL's Tampa capital markets team with senior managing director Matt Mitchell. Two other associates will move from NorthMarq to JLL with Weaver, Emily Moallem and Cody Mizelle.

In commercial real estate, capital markets teams are intricately involved in investment sales. They offer sales advisory services, debt placement, equity placement and recapitalization, depending on the transaction. Weaver and Quinn's leadership roles oversee each office's debt and equity platforms.

Weaver specializes in multifamily housing; he has originated commercial real estate loans from $3 million to $200 million. He's worked with lenders that include life insurance companies, pension funds, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the FHA. He also has a strong track record of arranging joint venture equity and preferred equity financing with a focus on student housing.

He started his career as an analyst at Northmarq and had been focused on multifamily housing for the last 16 years.

“Lee and Melissa bring tremendous experience and expertise in the real estate debt markets, which will allow us to add significant value for our clients,” Mitchell said in a statement. “They are some of the most knowledgeable practitioners in their space that I have met, and we are thrilled to have them on the team.”

JLL (NYSE: JLL) is also ramping its capital markets team in Orlando: Melissa Marcolini Quinn has joined the JLL Orlando office from Northmarq. Weaver said he and Quinn, who worked closely together at Northmarq, "had a wish list of strategies and structures we were working on to better service our expanding client base."

"JLL affords us the opportunity to create a true Central Florida team, something my partner [Quinn] and I had been looking for," Weaver said. "The markets are so close, and a regional approach just makes the most sense."
