JW Marriott on Clearwater Beach enters second phase of construction

Tampa Bay's second J.W. Marriott is beginning its next phase of construction, with completion expected in early 2024.

The J.W. Marriott on Clearwater Beach, which includes hotel rooms and luxury condominiums, has hired Moss Construction to complete the project, the company said Thursday.

It is the first J.W.-branded hotel-condo in the U.S., according to Moss. At completion, the building will include 162 hotel rooms and 36 furnished residential units. The amenities include an elevated 11th floor swimming pool and bar, spa, meeting rooms, ballrooms, gym, and an ocean front restaurant with private dining, and the hotel will 250 feet of private beach on the Gulf of Mexico.

Dr. Kiran Patel, one of Tampa Bay's most active philanthropists and a real estate developer, bought out the project in 2018.

The region's first J.W. Marriott opened in Water Street Tampa in late 2020.
