RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Exclusive: Luxury townhouses near Westshore Marina District to break ground A luxury townhouse project near the Westshore Marina District will break ground in the coming months, adding to the ongoing construction boom South of Gandy.
Tampa developer Mize & Sefair Development plans to break ground on the 25-unit Westshore Cityhomes in August, though that time frame is contingent upon the city permitting process, partner Jay Mize told the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The project first went public in September 2020.
While the developer just launched presales, construction will be 100 percent speculative, Mize said. With lumber prices soaring, Mize said the team has yet to nail down price ranges, though the townhouses will likely be around $500,000 with floor plans ranging from 1,808 to 1971 square feet.
"With that location, we're selling a lifestyle," Mize said, pointing out that the development is within walking distance to the mixed-use Westshore Marina District and centrally located between the downtowns of Tampa and St. Petersburg.
Mize & Sefair will close on the land — a 1.2-acre lot at 5100 S. Westshore Blvd. — and its construction loan once permits are secured. The single-family home on that site has been there since 1948, according to Hillsborough County property records. Tampa City Council signed off on the rezoning request for the project in March.
