RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Turner Construction opens Tampa office New York-based Turner now occupies 3,200 square feet in Meridian Two, an office building at 4300 W. Cypress St. The company closed its Tampa Bay office in 2013, vice president and business manager Kim Neuscheler told the Business Journal. Turner has 40 employees in Tampa; its Florida footprint is 506.
Since then, Neuscheler said, Turner has pursued — and won — jobs in the Tampa area from its Orlando office. But as the Bay region grows, Turner felt the need to plant a flag here. Turner's current projects here include the James. A Haley Veterans' Hospital bed tower expansion; its recently completed projects include the improvements to the Toronto Blue Jays' facility in Dunedin and Englebert Complex as well as renovations to George M. Steinbrenner Field, and the expansions of both the Manatee Memorial Hospital emergency room and the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
Neuscheler relocated from Turner's Manhattan headquarters in 2020 to oversee the opening of the Tampa office.
"When you look at what’s on the horizon for the Tampa Bay area, it made sense," Neuscheler said, "in order to support it properly and be fully engaged in a community in which we build."
Health care and mixed-use development will be among the most active sectors in the years ahead, Neuscheler said, based on the demand she's seeing in the market.
"The runway is long, based on what I’m seeing," she said. "The work that’s on the horizon — we’re busy now, and with Covid, the faucet has just started to open with work that was put on hold." |
