RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Property to Watch: Georgetown At 162 acres, situated on the Westshore waterfront, the Georgetown property — previously home to an apartment complex by the same name — is a crown jewel among Tampa Bay development sites. The developers of the property filed for site clearing permits on Oct. 21 after being cited for clearing without a permit on Oct. 13, according to city building records.
The developers, a partnership of Tampa’s DeBartolo Development, Avanti Properties and Christian Tyler Properties, have owned the site since 2009, when they paid $30.5 million for it. The property can accommodate hundreds of new homes and residential units.
The timing is right for Georgetown: Despite the economic upheaval brought by the novel coronavirus pandemic, there’s sustained demand for luxury properties in Tampa Bay. The Georgetown redevelopment, if it moves forward in 2021, will add some much-needed waterfront inventory to the South Tampa market. |
