25 People to Watch: Nicholas Haines, CEO, Bromley Cos.

This will be the year that Tampa Bay determines whether Nicholas Haines and Bromley Cos. can deliver on their promise of creating a signature neighborhood in the no man’s land between West Tampa and the Westshore Business District. Haines is CEO of Bromley Cos., the New York-based developer of Midtown Tampa. At Interstate 275 and North Dale Mabry Highway, Midtown spans 22 acres and includes office towers, apartments, a Whole Foods Market, REI Co-op and thousands of square feet of small shop space. The district will open in early 2021, with much of it ready for Super Bowl LV in early February.

While Haines is based in New York, he has made every effort to become a bona fide member of the Tampa business and development community. He makes frequent trips to Tampa and has cultivated an understanding of the city’s urban neighborhoods, and he wants Midtown Tampa to become its own destination. 2021 will be the year we see whether Midtown is the unique, walkable, wellness-centric development Haines has promised.
