Real estate data provider PropertyShark recently did a study to determine how much space $250,000 can buy in the country’s 100 largest cities.

Tampa ranks 41st, with the sum buying as much as 1,764 square feet, and St. Petersburg is at No. 45 with 1,724 square feet.

In Jacksonville, $250,000 can buy 2,240 square feet, the largest in the state. In Miami, $250,000 can buy 1,030 square feet, while it can buy 947 square feet in Orlando and 857 square feet in Hialeah.

Detroit came out on top — with $250,000 buying you about 5,407 square feet.

In Manhattan — NYC was broken down by borough — the study asserts $250,000 will get you around 232 square feet. Fly out west to San Francisco, and this might not earn you much more than 269 square feet.

You can find the full rankings in the chart below. PropertyShark used 2018 U.S. Census Data to determine the 100 most populous cities, and median home sale prices, with a 5.1 percent price increase added per the house price index to bring it closer to today.

Median home sizes’ square footage was put together by using PropertyShark.com data for 94 entries, and Points2Homes.com listings for the other six.
