Tampa Bay ranked 10th in May in homeswith new foreclosure filings
New filings increased in Pinellas County in May.

The Tampa Bay area ranked 10th nationally in the percentage of homes with new foreclosure filings in May. According to the property data site ATTOM DATA solutions, one in every 1,060 bay area homes had a default notice or was sold at a foreclosure sale.

That represented a nearly 9 percent increase in foreclosure activity compared to the same month a year earlier. Nationally, the Atlantic City area was No. 1 in percentage of homes with new foreclosure filings while the the Jacksonville ranked second.

New filings in Pinellas County rose 22 percent from May 2018 while filings decreased 3.7 percent in Hillsborough and 2.6 percent in Hernando. Figures for Pasco County were not available.
