Now that Ben Mallah owns Tampa Bay's most expensive house, he's selling two others

CLEARWATER - Now that investor Ben Mallah owns Tampa Bay's most expensive house, he's trying to sell two (slightly) more humble ones.

Mallah's 11,310-square-foot home overlooking Clearwater Harbor went on the market Tuesday for $7.5 million - less than half of what he paid last month for a mansion with 200 feet of private beach in Belleair Shore. A third house, in Redington Beach, was listed last week at $3.2 million.

The Clearwater house is one of 10 homes and one of just three on the water in the gated enclave of Spottis Woode. It is also the only house with its own pool. The tiny enclave, which has a community pool, includes the Roebling estate, named after the builders of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Constructed in 2004, Mallah's homestead until recently has six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, two kitchens, two laundry rooms, a music studio, a wine cellar and a five-car garage.

"It's probably the most contemporary house you'll find within all of Pinellas,'' agent Rafal Wazio said." The entire staircase is made of four-inch-thick crushed art glass going all the way up. All of the doors are automatic electric doors so they open automatically as you approach.''

Wazio was the selling agent last month when Mallah bought the Belleair Shore house for $16.5 million. Another agent is handling the sale of a third home Mallah currently owns, a nearly 4,000-square-foot gulf-front house in Redington Beach.

Mallah, whose real estate holdings include several hotels throughout Florida, bought the Belleair Shore house as a 15th anniversary present for his wife. The price was by far the highest for any home in the bay area and one of the highest ever on Florida's gulf coast north of Naples.
