A Saturday in the first half of July is the best time to list a Tampa Bay home

The best time to list a home for sale in the Tampa Bay area is between July 1 and July 15. That's according to Zillow, which found that homes hitting the market in that time period sell for $1,500 more on average.

To get the most page views, it's also best to list a home on a Saturday. Nationally, the best time to list is the first two weeks of May when school is about to get out and families planning to move start looking for a new home.

Pittsburgh has the earliest window - the second half of March - while Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale join Tampa Bay in having the latest window. As the market shifts toward a buyer's market, sellers can gain an edge and "earn a boost by listing at the right time,'' Zillow said.

Nationally, sellers who want to maximize their profits should list their homes in the first two weeks of May.
