Job creation development project Commerce Park in St. Petersburg takes a step forward this week as motorcycle retailer Euro Cycles and EMP break ground.

Euro Cycles marked the milestone on Monday evening and marine supply company EMP will break ground Tuesday. Foundation permits were issued for both entities late last week.

"Our growing 22nd Street corridor is one of the most exciting areas in our city," Mayor Rick Kriseman said in a statement. The city said this marks progress in the Deuces and Warehouse Arts District master plan, part of the city's 30-year South St. Pete Community Redevelopment Area plan.

Two key provisions of the development deal include Small Business Enterprise requirements for construction and incentives for CRA resident job creation. This development in particular will create at least 65 jobs, with a minimum of 17 going to CRA residents.

The city is also preparing for the Tuesday afternoon groundbreaking ceremony of a 33,000-square-foot facility for Marinetek NA.
