Sprouts Farmers Market is adding two more stores in Tampa Bay

Sprouts Farmers Market has announced three new Florida stores - and two of them are in the Tampa Bay region.

The Phoenix-based specialty grocer said Wednesday that it is planning new locations in New Tampa, at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Hunters Green Drive, as well as in Seminole at Seminole Plaza.

The third new Florida store will be in Stuart.

Sprouts did not disclose a construction time line or size for those stores. Sprouts stores are an average of 30,000 square feet.

There are currently six Sprouts stores in Florida, the majority of which are in the Tampa Bay region. On Jan. 16, the grocer will open a store in Clearwater; others are in the works in Riverview and Trinity. Sprouts' first Florida location was in the Carrollwood area of Tampa.

Sprouts is among several specialty grocers expanding throughout Florida. Lucky's Market, backed by grocery giant Kroger Co., has a growing presence here, as does Earth Fare.
