TAMPA – Mainsail Lodging & Development LLC received approval from Pasco County commissioners to develop a multi-use tourism sports facility on an approximately 224-acre, county-owned parcel of land in the Wesley Chapel area, including a Residence Inn that will be owned and operated by Tampa-based Mainsail.

According to a press release, the Residence Inn will have studio, one- and two-bedroom suites, meeting space and a rooftop bar.

"The vision was to create a first-class, multi-use sports destination focused on amateur sports tourism to provide economic impact while serving the regional community's needs,” says Mainsail Lodging & Development President Joe Collier in the statement. "Given the explosive growth of the Wiregrass area and the commitment of Pasco County, we think this project is poised to exceed all expectations.”

Phase one of the project will also include a 98,000-square-foot indoor sports facility that will accommodate basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, gymnastics and dance competitions, along with a double sports field and event lawn, an amphitheater and running and biking trails.

Fla.-based sports development management company RADDSports will manage the sports facilities.

Mainsail has developed other hotels and resorts in Florida, including Mainsail Beach Inn on Anna Maria Island and the boutique, food-focused Epicurean Hotel in Tampa.
