Construction on a new multifamily building on the site of the former Chart House Restaurant is under way.

First Florida Construction has pulled a building permit for the foundation of a multifamily building at 7616 W. Courtney Campbell Causeway on Rocky Point. The project has a $10 million cost, according to the building permit.

ZOM USA, based in Orlando, acquired the Chart House site in April for $11.75 million. The developer's plans for the property include 323 apartment units in three- and six-story buildings. It has 750 feet of water frontage, and 85 percent of the units will have a water view.

The Chart House closed on May 31.

It slated for completion in 2018.

"The Rocky Point site is unmatched in terms of waterfront location, amenities and convenient proximity to employment," Greg West, ZOM chief development officer, previously said in a statement.
