RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Straz Center unveils $100 million waterfront master plan The Straz Center is preparing a request for proposals for a feasibility study. President and CEO Judy Lisi said the goal is to have the feasibility study - which could identify funding sources - wrapped up by the end of the year.
The redevelopment is slated to cost $65 million to $100 million, funded through public and private sources. View the renderings for a virtual tour. The conceptual plan includes the following:
"We wanted something fresh and new exciting to represent Tampa,†Lisi said while presenting the new renderings on Tuesday morning.
Lisi said that while the Straz has presented its plans to Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, the group hasn't talked public funding with him. She said the Straz will explore several options for funding, including money from the state, city and county.
"They might help us with some bonding," Lisi said of the city and county, though formal discussions on that type of deal have not been discussed.
A year ago, the Straz Center unveiled a vision plan for its waterfront real estate and said it would be entering a conceptual master planning process. That was funded by a $245,000 grant from the Frank E. Duckwall Foundation.
