Accardi brothers buy more land in downtown Tampa

The owners of 717 Parking Enterprises have added an additional acre of land to their downtown Tampa portfolio.

Twin brothers Jason and John Accardi paid $5.9 million for the 1-acre block bound by Washington Street to the north, Whiting Street to the south, North Marion Street to the west and North Morgan Street to the east, according to Hillsborough County property records.

Jason Accardi said Monday the site will continue to operate as a surface parking lot for the foreseeable future. The group's long-term vision for the property, he said, is a hotel or office building.

Between downtown Tampa and Ybor City, the Accardi brothers own or manage about 1 million square feet. In February, they added the Northern Trust Building and adjacent surface parking lot to their portfolio.

Land prices in downtown Tampa have risen significantly in the last year and a half. In July 2014, Richman Group paid $11 million for a 4-acre site just three blocks from the Accardi brothers' newest acquisition.

Richman is now under construction on a five-story apartment building on that site.
