Blackstone pays $35 million for Westshore hotel

Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX) has acquired the DoubleTree Tampa Airport Hotel in Westshore for $35.6 million, according to Hillsborough County property records.

Blackstone's deal, which closed Aug. 5, breaks down to to $72,000 per key. The seller was GE Capital Real Estate.

The 489-room, full-service hotel at 4500 W. Cypress St. was built in 1973, according to property records.

The price recorded in property records may not represent the full price of the transaction because it sometimes doesn't include all of the assets that come with the hotel, such as furniture.

Blackstone has listed the Westin Harbour Island for sale.
