BankUnited expands Tampa business banking division

BankUnited hired two executives to form a new business banking team in Tampa.

The team leader is Jason Russek, who will be senior vice president and responsible for all business banking initiatives in the West Florida region. He's joined by Jason Costello, who will be vice president and business banker. The new hires are both veterans of BB&T in St. Petersburg.

"BankUnited continues to expand its activities in wholesale banking in the Tampa market, which includes the corporate banking, commercial real estate and business banking segments,” Thomas M. Cornish, state president of Florida for BankUnited, said in a press release.

Bank United (NYSE: BKU), a $20 billion bank headquartered in Miami Lakes, has 100 branches in 15 Florida counties, including 14 offices in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties. The new team will be based at BankUnited's Tampa Metro Center in Westshore.
