Downtown Tampa's Northern Trust Building sold to twin brothers' real estate firm

The Accardi brothers have added to their portfolio of downtown Tampa real estate.

Twins Jason and John Accardi said Thursday that they have acquired the Northern Trust Building, a 28,288-square-foot office building on North Florida Avenue, as well as the surrounding block of about half an acre of land, a surface parking lot.

The brothers were already the operators of the lot through their national parking and valet company, Seven One Seven Parking Services Inc.

"The Northern Trust Block is an excellent property and represents our continued significant investment in the Tampa market," Jason Accardi said in a written statement.

The building is 100 percent leased to two tenants, Northern Trust Bank and Johnson Pope Bokor Ruppel and Burns LLP. A purchase price was not disclosed.

The office market in downtown Tampa showed real progress in 2014, with more companies moving to the urban core. The market is becoming tighter and tighter, driving up rents and driving the flurry of office tower sales that happened at the end of the year.
