Price tag on University Mall: $29.5 million

The new owner of University Mall picked up the property for $29.5 million, according to Hillsborough County property records.

For that price, New York-based RD Management LLC acquired the 460,000-square-foot enclosed mall, the parking garage and a few outparcels.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal was first to report that RD Management had closed on the mall on Thursday. A deed for the transaction was filed Friday.

The anchor boxes - Dillard's, Burlington Coat Factory and Sears - remain individually owned.

Richard Birdoff, principal of RD Management, told the Business Journal that he envisions a mix of uses on the site.

One broker says a mix of restaurants and retail that caters to the student population could be viable on the site.
