A New York investment firm that specializes in student housing has picked up a property near the University of South Florida for $31 million.

Vesper Holdings LLC acquired The Pointe at South Florida in a deal that closed Oct. 3, according to a Hillsborough County deed filed Monday.

The seller was Memphis-based EdR, a publicly traded developer and owner of student housing. The property was built in 2000.

Nearby student housing developments Campus Club and College Court also recently sold. All multifamily - including student living, assisted living and market-rate apartments - remains the strongest sector of commercial real estate in Tampa Bay. Crescent Bayshore, a downtown Tampa apartment complex, recently sold for more than $300,000 per unit.
