More apartments on tap for Ybor City

Another old factory in Ybor City may find new life as an apartment building. Plans are in the works to convert the warehouse at 1728 E. Second Ave. in Ybor City into a 22-unit apartment building, according to paperwork filed with the city.

Postscript Holdings LLC, which is tied to Tampa-based Spectrum Productions CEO Guy Nickerson, owns the property. A representative of California-based Helvetica Tampa 23 LLC has filed a request with the city to allow 20 parking spaces instead of the required 22 at the building.

It's not clear whether the California group would buy the property or partner with Nickerson on the deal. Tampa businessman Darryl Shaw is working on a similar adaptive reuse project at the former Oliva Cigar Factory, which he plans to convert into 42 apartments.
